World Wide Tourism: A Review

The present study presents a detailed review of papers published on tourism from across the world. Wereferred to a number of studies to check the impact of tourism, tourism policies and governance, analyzed techniques in tourism research, examined concepts of tourism, demand indicators, and many others. The purpose of the present study is to highlight the way developed and developing countries probe into tourism subjects and market their destinations. The present paper, with respect to worldwide tourism development, starts with analyzing the existing tourism situation, followed by tourism product development with anew approach. The next step is to measure the effects of tourism on the local economy as well as on the other sectors. For strategic decision-making, focus needs to be placed on statistical tools, which could be used for qualitative analysis in the tourism industry. After that, the focus of the study shifts to the importance of tourism in handling social issues. Next, the paper discusses the psychology of the consumers and the level of quality tourism services expected by them. The present paper could be utilized as a guideline for tourism development in a developing nation like India. In India, tourism development is in a nascent stage, where we are looking at basic tourist infrastructural facilities, where as in the developed countries, they look at the psychographic profiles of the tourists. Development of newer tourism products and management profiles of such products need to be designed.

Framework Of Tourism - Jafar Jafari 1091

Matheus Palmeira

Leiper, Neil, “The Framework of Tourism: Towards a Definition of Tourism, Tourist, and the Tourist Industry,” Annals of Tourism Research, 1979, VI(4):390–407. A framework for the general study of tourism is discussed. Three approaches to the topic: economic, technical, and holistic are identified and analysed; it is argued that its multi facets require a holistic definition. A systems methodology is used to develop a new definition of tourism. Five elements are isolated: tourists, three geographical elements (generating region, transit route, and destination region), and a tourist industry. The process of tourism is dissected to show that it is inherently a partially-industrialized one, and the tourist industry is shown to contain several sectors with functional and spatial connections across the system. Suggested applications of the framework are proposed, in academic research, education, business and government arenas of tourism. The main theme is that tourism's many facets are connected and that it is both possible and desirable to include an explicit recognition of those connections in general studies of the subject.

Roberto Paolo Vico

Sociedade e Território, 2018

In a world and travel universe subject to continuous change, the tourism industry is under ever greater pressure to evolve and respond to the world it inhabits - in order to survive. The object of the paper is to discuss and analyze, some of the important issues and trends relating to tourism industries. In particular, ways in which the industry and its consumers are being affected and affecting these trends. The first two sections deploy elements of a steep analysis in order to detect significant demographic and macro political forces affecting tourism industries. Section three considers the “day-to-day…sphere” of travel and tourism, its ‘microenvironment’ and the competitive industry and markets forces they encounter there. The paper reviews one of the most significant micro trends affecting the airline sector: the dynamic growth of low cost carriers. The last part of this work looks into strategic and analytic models associated with tourism, highlighting some of the strateg...
