I'm currently doing an NVQ3 in Nail Services where I am training with NSI products but I just can't get on with them. The day I wake up after using them I am covered in a hot itchy rash.
My tutor says that I can use another nail kit to train with and that it needs to be hypoallergenic because it's likely that the formaldehydes are what is making me flare up (even with the use of antihistamines!!)
So yeah, can anybody here pleeeease name/recommend any acrylic and gel brands that make hypoallergenic products? It would help me so much to invest in a new kit asap as I'm falling behind a bit in class due to being limited in how often I can practice!

I wasn't aware that nsi have formalderhydes in their product range. They are very aware of this when it comes to polish and I can't see them being so quick of the mark to excude this from polish and use it in acrylic. But I could be wrong.
More and more, on here I have noticed peeps who are alergic to the glue, or the assatone rather then the acrylic/ monomer.
Have you tried wearing gloves? So long as you get close fitting gloves it doesn't interfear with the service. I quiet often wear gloves to protect my own nails.
Sorry I can't be of more help:hug:

thanks for you reply
Yeah, I've tried wearing gloves but this makes no difference (tis strange but yeah )
I've always had sensitive skin so whilst I'm very disappointed in the situation, I guess I'm not that suprised. I'm not sure what it is in the kit that's setting off this allergy but it's bad to the extent that unluckily, I'm going to have to invest in an entirely new kit...am hoping that this will mean I can still train to do this and then persue it (realistically, I think I'll be better as a beauty therapist who does nails rather than solely as a nail tech)

Brisa (by CND) is hypo-allergenic and I believe LCN have one in their range too, not 100% positive though.
I use Brisa and wholeheartedly recommend it
It's distributed by SweetSquared in the UK and I believe Julia would be your closest educator.
Give them a ring at head office to find out more info, the number is 0845 210 6060.
Or pop along to see Julia if you're not too far away:
Creative Academy + Manchester (click here for website)
Lloyd House
Orford Court
Greenfold Way
Leigh
WN7 3XJ
Not too sure about L+P brands that are hypo-allergenic though, but hopefully others may have more info on that.
Hope that helps a bit

Many people who are allergic to a chemical or/chemicals in most monomers are not allergic to Retention+ monomer from CND (it is different) ...
so it is a good idea to pop in and see Julia in Leigh at the CND store and get her to apply a nail or two to you or let you have a play and see how you react (or hopefully do NOT react) to it. You could purchase a small Try Me Kit so you can have a go with it at home as well. You will get about 3 sets out of a Try Me kit. Hope it works for you.

Thanks for these, I will need to try them, I take these reactions too to both Gel and Acrylic so to find a product that is Hypoallergenic would be amazing as I miss having my nails done.
Also i have done alot of research on this and one of the causes is the product coming into contact with the skin i.e the cuticule and the sides of the nail, as you know when training this can easily happen, what I do is use an orange stick to go around the edge of the nails to remove any product before it sets or cures under the lamp.
I will purchase a trial kit and let you know how i get on with these products too
